Need for Home Health Services

Home healthcare might be a viable option to you if you are coping with an acute or chronic illness, or are recovering from surgery or an injury.

If you think home health aide or senior home care may be the right choices for you or a family member, then you should discuss it with your doctor, or contact your nearest AseraCare Home Health agency for further guidance. We can advise you of other Medicare requirements, such as "homebound status," and your specific needs for home healthcare.

According to Medicare guidelines, in order to qualify for home healthcare, "your doctor must decide that you need medical care at home and make a plan for this care. You must need one or more of the following: Intermittent skilled services nursing care; physical therapy; speech-language pathology services; continued occupational therapy."

Additionally, "you must be homebound or normally unable to leave home unassisted. To be homebound means that leaving home takes a considerable and taxing effort. A person may leave home for medical treatment or short, infrequent absences for non-medical reasons, such as a trip to attend religious services. You can still get home healthcare if you attend adult day care."

As things can change, please check here for the latest information from Medicare regarding eligiblity requirements.
