3 Key Findings From 2012 Medicare Payment Changes

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released its first SNF Monitoring Report on the impact of the Oct. 1, 2011, Medicare payment changes on skilled nursing facilities (SNF). The report's key findings include virtually no decrease in the percent of high rehabilitation cases, a decrease in the allocation of group therapy from 8% to 0% (99% of therapy is now provided individually), and substantially fewer than expected change-of-therapy (COT) other Medicare required assessment (OMRAs) filed, indicating that planned therapies are reported as being consistently provided as planned.
